New Purchases Show & Tell – October 2016

Catch up & watch

It’s that time of the month again – you know, the time when I look back at what I’ve been buying (or wasting) my money on?

Well I’ve been buying a lot this month, so much in fact I’ve had to cut a few items out so I don’t bore you all with a massive blog post/video.

Watch my video below to reveal October’s New Purchases Show & Tell!

Missguided PETITE Ribbed 90s neck mini dress – 16 seconds in
I know, I know.  This is quite a risqué party dress for the shortness alone (even bought from the petite section too)!  Despite this and the fact the material was slightly transparent, I was still pretty happy with it for £15.  Although perhaps next time I should shop in the normal section if petite is too small on me?

Missguided £5 off first order over £25 click here.

ASOS PETITE Maxi Dress with 90s neck – 59 seconds in
Another bargain dress and nearly the exact opposite to the previous dress (it’s full length and a great opaque material)!  I whipped it up in the ASOS sale and I will definitely be having a go at a full length dresses again in the future.

Oasis Embroidered collar knit – 1:36 minutes in
Yes I’ve been back at Oasis again…  I’m a sucker for their shirt collar and knit tops at the moment!  As you might be able to tell, this dark burgundy red is one of my favourite colours too and along with the decorated collar, I couldn’t resist.

Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder – 2:18 minutes in
I treated myself with some saved up Birchbox points this month and went for this as I know it’s so highly reviewed.  I never fussed round much with setting powders before as I didn’t see that much of a difference.  (Or the difference I did see was a cakey one!)  I’m pleased with this though as I can see it covers up flaws and smooths out skin, all quite light and naturally!  Very nice.

Barry M Illuminating Strobing cream – 3:04 minutes in
Yes I could have ordered it online, but for some reason I become addicted to the hunt every time I popped into Boots.  Yet every time I did, it was sold out.  Well it’s popular for a reason because so far I think it’s perfectly subtle and incredibly pretty.

Smashbox Studio Best Sellers (gift set) – 3:45 minutes in
What a bloody bargain!  I was looking to test out more Smashbox products and all the best sellers are here in one box for half the price.  I’m really looking forward to trying these out, let me know if you’d like to see a first impressions video!

Pretty Iconic by Sali Hughes – 4:48 minutes in
You may have already seen my The Delights at Stylist Live blog post, but if not how lucky am I to pick up Pretty Iconic a week before it’s release and have Sali sign it for me herself?  I’ve reserved a special place in my bookshelf for this one.

Anger is an Energy: My Life Uncensored by John Lydon – 5:19 minutes in
I’m a big fan of music biographies, but musician’s autobiographies are even better!  I originally bought this to match up the whole punk story with Vivienne Westwood’s memoir that I read earlier this year.  I soon found however that I really enjoyed John’s voice and his tales of life throughout.  Better than expected!

Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith – 6:00 minutes in
I’ve literally not been able to put this down.  A thriller set within a factually based Soviet Union Russia – what more could you ask for?  Well okay, not everyone’s cup of tea for a novel but certainly mine.  I can honestly say such a good read.  I’ve already given it 5 stars.

LALALAB Lalabox – 6:25 minutes in
You may remember me getting this offer in Birchbox UK Unboxing September 2016 and I couldn’t not take it up!  I love the polaroid format and although they’re digital prints I still reckon it’s a great idea.

My LALALAB referral code: PGY6G9WB

I’ve bought a lot this month and I still think I’ve missed some things out!  Let me know what you think on what I’ve been buying this month, have you bought any of these products recently?

New Purchases Show & Tell – September 2016

Catch up & watch

We’re nearly done and dusted with September – can you believe it?  This month has gone so fast for me personally.

This could be down to the fact I started a new job on the first day of this month, which could explain why’s it’s whizzed past so quickly.

Anyway, watch my video below to see if this has affected my New Purchases Show & Tell this month!

Oasis Ditsy rib collar knit – 12 seconds in
So the answer is yes – me starting a new job has definitely influenced what I’ve been buying this month!  I always knew Oasis existed, but never really ventured in until the other weekend.  There’s so many collared knits and boho influenced clothes in there at the moment; I am totally sold.  Really comfy too!

Boohoo Petite Melissa Floral Print Playsuit – 1:10 minutes
I’m not always happy with what I’ve ordered from BooHoo, usually down to the quality.  This playsuit however missed the returns package and for good reason!  For only £15 it has a great floral print that could work both for summer and winter.  It’s not the best fit, but for the price I can’t complain.

Adele – 25 – 1:55 minutes in
Adele absolutely wiped the floor with my previous doubts about her headlining Glastonbury.  She completely blew me away and so I just had to buy her latest album.  There’s definitely a stronger feel compared to the heartbreak of 21, but still packed full of emotion.  It actually brought tears to my eyes when first listening to it and I’m still belting it out in the car now.  (Good job I don’t lift share.)

L. Erickson Grab & Go Pony – 3:18 minutes in
I was a bit put out when receiving one, just one, of these hairbands in a Birchbox earlier this year.  But since wearing it I soon realised it was a damn good hairband.  They are a little pricey for what they are, but my hair doesn’t kink when I’m wearing them and they still have a strong hold.  Worth investing in.

Huygens Exfoliating Cream – 3:54 minutes in
It’s hard to believe this exfoliating cream is exclusive to Birchbox.  It wasn’t in the sale but I was planning on getting my hands on a full size version ever since my sample ran out anyway.  This definitely deserves more attention.

Model’s Own Absinthe Nail Varnish – 4:15 minutes in
Another Birchbox sale find – I can’t believe how cheap this was!  I had actually chosen the black colour over the green in a Birchbox, a long time ago now.  I regretted not opting for this colour though and so when I caught sight of it in the sale for only 70p, or thereabouts, I nabbed it quick.  What an absolute steal!

Boots Bamboo Tights – 4:59 minutes in
Come autumn and winter, I am never without Boots’ Bamboo tights.  I’ve never found a pair of tights so soft to wear, but still fitted and flattering at the same time.  They are my tights of choice.

Another random month this month, but I hope you enjoyed it all the same.  You can keep up to date with my blog by following me on any of the social links below.

Please also leave any recommendations you might have, based on what I’ve been buying – I’m always down for hearing people’s suggestions!
