Last month we went through ALL of the emotions and come-downs of the Royal Wedding (can we do it all again please, Megan and Harry?). So already Birchbox UK June 2018 has a lot to contend with. What a clever move Birchbox has made then to carry on the British celebrations into this month as well.
But there’s another good reason to celebrate, as Birchbox is turning the ripe age of 5 years old this month too. Plus I have a lot going on in June (mostly me trying to post out a video every day over on my channel.) So there’s plenty going on to bide us time until the next royal wedding (which won’t be for a few decades yet, but, ya know).
Birchbox UK June 2018 video
So to celebrate my Every Day June bonanza and to save time on video editing, I decided to go LIVE on YouTube this month by unboxing my Birchbox UK June 2018 limited edition tin box! (This was also my first ever live YouTube video, eep.)
A 5th anniversary is a big milestone, so do the samples we received reflect that and a British tea party theme? Find out below…
- Ella Eden Compact Eyeshaow (FULL SIZE!)
As ever, I’ll start with the product I knew I was receiving. Last month I had the choice between two colours of a full-size Ella Eden eyeshadow; a brown named Faith, or a muted pink called Julia. I opted for Julia, but as you can probably see, I’ve had a bit of an accident since filming my live! Sadly I dropped it on the floor, resulting in smashing it to pieces, although I did save some of this sparkly pink for the swatch below…
- Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer
It wouldn’t be a Birchbox celebration without a Benefit sample now would it! I’ve said before how Benefit and Birchbox have a good partnership going, so I’m pleased to see this in my box. I’ve not tried the hyped up original POREfessional, so I can’t compare but I’m all about the added radiance.
- Whittard of Chelsea Teabags
So this is where the tea party theme comes in! I received three selections to try; Earl Grey (a quintessential favourite everyone knows and loves), a remedial Lemon & Ginger, and a fruity Mango & Bergamot too.
- Number 4 Jour d’automne Smoothing Balm
This brand has cropped up a couple of times in my Birchbox over the years and I’ve usually been pleased with their products, so Number 4 isn’t an unwanted face (to this tea party haha). I can tell you that it smells absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to try this properly with damp hair. (It’s a heat protectant too!)
- Polaar Velvety Sun Fluid Face & Body
I’m pleased to see a SPF in here! I’m quite pasty, so I take sun care seriously (I have to, otherwise I burn). With my skin being sensitive as well I find it helps to sometimes spending a little bit more on sunscreen, as it means I won’t break out (on my face) and irritate my skin.
- Lord & Berry Strobing Highlighter Pencil
An interesting product, that still has me pondering why this wasn’t made as a stick, instead of a pencil? It will help with highlighting the areas around my eyes though.
Box Round Up
The tin box was definitely a treat! I do agree that some of the samples seem a bit laid back for a celebration though, but they’re all quite useful to me, albeit in a low-key way. If only I hadn’t dropped the full-size eyeshadow, which was more than the total of my box, I’d have been more happy with Birchbox UK June 2018.
Another full-size product is on the horizon too (as in next month’s box). As Birchbox subscribers, we’ll be given a choice out of two long wear powders (in blush-like colours) from Manna Kadar, another returning brand. I wonder what we’ll be celebrating then…
