I’ve never shaken off that feeling of a new academic year as September rolls in, and Birchbox UK September 2018 apparently knows exactly how I feel. Other than January, it feels like it should be one of the most productive months of the year.
Although this September is slightly different for me. I can’t help but think of it as a close to summer (because we’ve had a marvellous one) and the beginning of a very slippery slope towards Christmas.
Oh lord, give me strength!
Birchbox UK September 2018 unboxing
After the many things that seem to be sucking my money and energy (car accident, bills, life), I almost read Birchbox’s ‘On Top of the World’ theme with a sniggered cynicism. (Okay soz, even that sentence is uncharacteristically pessimistic from me, I’ll cheer up now!)
Birchbox UK September 2018 samples
In hindsight, I should have been more excited about getting another Benefit item in this box. Let me tell you why.
- Benefit Box O’ Powder in Gold Rush
Ever since I received Benefit Hoola Bronzer in my November box, I now understand why it’s considered a big deal. I should have remembered this when receiving Gold Rush; a warming blush with specks of gold highlight. Instead I was once again pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. Spread the news people; Benefit do banging powder products.
- SAND & SKY Flash Perfect Exfoliating Treatment
I really liked Sand & Sky’s mask back in my December box, so I was happy to see this brand again! Instead of a mask though, this exfoliating treatment felt like a sticky sand when first massaging this in (gently). I couldn’t layer it as a mask, but I left it for 5 minutes anyway and found my skin to be so smooth and soft when washing it off. If it wasn’t for the high price tag (and my lack of money at the moment) I would seriously consider buying this.
- Klorane Nourishing Conditioner with Mango Butter
Right okay, I’m going to have a bit of a moan here. My leaflet advised that Klorane’s hair range is sulfate free and this is not true. I geared myself up to buy the shampoo on the Birchbox store, to go along with this conditioner, but the ingredient ‘Sodium Laureth Sulfate’ was right there out in the open (in the ingredients list). So I changed my mind. I still tried the shampoo though, which leaves your hair with a fantastic mango smell.
- Marcelle CITY 24hr Anti-Pollution Moisturizing Emulsion
I take back what I said about not liking Marcelle products. I’ve been using this moisturising emulsion day and night this week and have already seen a change in my skin. I’ve mostly noticed a difference after applying makeup, as it makes a great base. I’m now questioning whether I have the right moisturiser after trying this.
- Eyeko Brow Liner
Having received a few Eyeko eyeliners in my time, I can say on first impressions this brow liner certainly looks just as precise as those, if not more precise? I don’t typically use a brow liner in this way, but for anyone who does want to create ‘individual hairs’ then this is definitely the one.
Added little extra: I wasn’t expecting an offer this month, as this wasn’t a collaborative box. But located at the bottom of my box was a £10 off your first order at Bloom & Wild, a service I have been meaning to try for a long time!
Box round up
One criticism of Birchbox UK September 2018 might be that I haven’t received a full size product, after month’s of receiving at least one. Despite this, I have taken every item out of the box to try. (A true measure on how good a Birchbox really is, as I still have products kept in past Birchbox’s up in my spare room that I haven’t used yet. Does anyone else do this?)
October sneak peak: I’ll be given a choice out of two warming foil masks – I’ve tried sheet masks (which I love), but not foil masks! This is something definitely I’m looking forward to.
